Book a visit to Altcourse Prison
To book a visit to Altcourse Prison, it’s important to note that the inmates themselves are responsible for arranging visits. They accomplish this by using an application on the Central Management System (CMS), accessed through touchscreen computer terminals located in each unit within the prison. After a visit is approved, it’s up to the individual prisoner to notify their family and friends about the visit’s date and time.
Visits can be scheduled a maximum of 14 days in advance and a minimum of 3 days ahead. Inmates are allowed to book up to three adult visitors and three children under 18 years of age per session. However, if a child visitor is over 17, they will be classified as an adult.
Prison staff are not involved in the booking process or in informing visitors about the visit or any cancellations. It’s also the inmate’s responsibility to make sure their visitors are aware of the identification requirements and other regulations for the visit, although additional information can be checked on the official website.

NB Duration of each session is 1 Hour. A request for an extended 2 Hour session can be authorised subject to availability.
On arrival Legal Visitors do not need to go to the Visits Centre. Report directly to the main reception with your ID.
